A library weighing two tons is heading from Jerusalem to the depository in Jenštejn

The generous gift of 3,000 titles devoted to the problem of Jerusalem was taken over today, on Wednesday, 14 October, by the Institute of Art History of the CAS. The extraordinary book collection was donated to the institute by Bianca Kühnel from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem based on her collaboration with Klára Benešovská from the Department of Medieval Art. Both researchers have devoted their entire academic careers to the Middle Ages.

Zelenka Conference Prague 2020

We cordially invite you to the Seventh Zelenka Conference to be held in Prague 16 October 2020. The conference is organized by Ensemble Inégal with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and co-organized with the Institute of Art History, The Czech Academy of Sciences. Due to coronavirus measures, this year's conference will also be live-streamed. Registrants will be able to interactively participate in the conference online, and an online recording of the conference will be made available.

International Digital Workshop: Women in Nineteenth-Century Czech Musical Culture

On 23–24 October 2020, the Institute of Art History, Czech Academy of Sciences, hosts an international digital workshop titled ‘Women in Nineteenth-Century Czech Musical Culture’. Registration is free and is open to everyone. However, in order to monitor numbers and, if necessary, adjust tech settings, registration is essential by Thursday, 15 October 2020, 22:00 (Prague time). The official workshop languages are German and English.

The exhibition entitled 'Josef Sudek: So-called Fine Art Photography' is being organised within the Photograph-Festival and held until 13 December 2020. The guided tour with the curator Hana Buddeus takes place on 14 October 2020.

Current Issues of Mozart Research III

Under the auspices of the President of the Czech Academy of Sciences Prof. Eva Zažímalová, an international congress “Current Issues of Mozart Research III” will be held on 9 October 2020 in Prague, in Villa Lanna (Prague 6, V Sadech 1). The congress is organised by the Institute of Art History of the CAS in cooperation with the Mozart Society in the Czech Republic and funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic. Among speakers, there are members of the Akademie für Mozart-Forschung at the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg and other German, Austrian, and English Mozart experts. Due to the epidemiological situation, speakers will hold their papers online. However, their presentations will be transmitted at the Villa Lanna. We kindly ask those interested in taking part in this conference form, to register on the email: jonasova@udu.cas.cz

Italian Opera - Between Original and Pasticcio

The sixth international musicological conference on 18th-century Italian operas in the Bohemian lands will be held as part of the Festival of Baroque Art in Český Krumlov on 19-20 September 2020. This year’s theme is “Italian Opera – Between Original and Pasticcio”. The conference will take place in the Centre of Baroque Culture in Český Krumlov, and is organised by the Institute of Art History, CAS, under the patronage of the Italian Cultural Institute in Prague, and in cooperation with the Town Theatre Český Krumlov, the Centre of Baroque Culture in Český Krumlov, the Hof-Musici ensemble, and the Mozart Society in the Czech Republic. The conference is supported financially by the Commission for the Regional Cooperation of the Regions and Institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

The Institute of Art History of the CAS invites junior researchers, Ph.D. holders, to apply for a postdoc scholarship funded by the Czech Academy of Sciences Applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. degree in the past 2 years (before the beginning of the scholarship) with the exception of time spent on maternal/parental leave, on sick leave if this is longer than 90 days as well as compulsory military service.
