The newly released publication on Troja Château describes the construction history and circumstances of the creation of this well-known Prague Baroque complex. The architecture of Troja Château, the extraordinary quality of its decoration and the social ties of its builder – Wenzel Adalbert, Count of Sternberg – have been for the first time put into the wider context of Central European art at the end of the 17th century. The book, accompanied with ample illustrations and schematic diagrams, has been also conceived as a practical guide to the château, meeting the needs of the general public as well as visitors with professional interest.

A Czech-English catalogue to the exhibition "Vlastislav Hofman (1884–1964): A Tribute to Invention" has been published by the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava in cooperation with the Institute of Art History. For the contents, please, see the attachment. Here, crematory in Moravský Ostrava is dealt with special attention. The story of this cubo-expressionist architecture is pursued on the basis of first designs through its realisation (1923-1925) up to its abolishment and demolition in 1979.

From September 27 2017 until January 7 2018 an exhibition "Vlastislav Hofman (1884–1964): A Tribute to Invention" is opened in the Dům umění in Ostrava. Curator: Mahulena Nešlehová (IAH CAS) in cooperation with Markéta Svobodová (IAH CAS).

An International Workshop proposed by the Center for Ibero-American Studies of the Faculty of Arts, Charles University (SIAS FF UK), the French Institute for Research in Social Sciences (CEFRES) and the Institute of Art History of Czech Academy of Sciences (IAH CAS). The aim of the workshop is to set into focus the monastic space as a multifaceted research theme from a global and interdisciplinary perspective. We invite papers that address the questions how monastic institutions contributed to the flow and exchanges of cultural practices and how their role as cultural mediators shaped their material culture and spatial politics. The scope of the workshop has no timely, geographical or confessional limitations as it intends to generate dialogue between researchers from various disciplinary backgrounds.

The IAH CAS together with the National Gallery in Prague organises an international conference "Archduke Ferdinand II of Austria (1529–1595) and his cultural patronage between Prague and Innsbruck". The "Baroque Ceiling Painting in Central Europe" (BCPCE), the Institute of History of Art and Musicology of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the IAH CAS together with the Hradec Králové Region and the Omnium Association organise an international conference "Baroque Parish Churches and Their Decoration: A New Field of Research". The conference will be held in Vienna on 23–25 October 2017. We invite those interested in the topic to send their proposals until 30 April 2017.
